About the VCH Primary Care IT Strategy

The VCH Primary Care Information Technology (IT) Strategy is focused on enhancing patient care by improving private practitioner access to and use of accurate, relevant and timely health information, established clinical practice guidelines and clinical decision support tools. Developed by primary care physicians and specialists, the Primary Care IT Strategy is comprised of several different initiatives aimed at providing physicians with secure, electronic access to a range of clinical information at the point of care. PC Central is one of the tools developed within the Primary Care IT Strategy.

PC Central Pilot Project

The PC Central Working Group, comprised of private practice family physicians working throughout Vancouver Coastal Health, has spent the past year planning and developing this first-ever website aimed at supporting family doctors. The site is currently being evaluated by approximately 20 physicians and their MOAs as part of a comprehensive process to ensure that PC Central meets the needs of physicians in the community. This evaluation will consider:

Feedback from these physicians will guide final revisions to the site, which will then be evaluated by a broader group of physicians willing to participate in a Broad Pilot in early 2007. PC Central is targeted for full release by March 2007, depending on the outcome of the evaluation and VCH’s ability to provide user and technical support.

Expression of Interest for PC Central Broad Pilot

Access to PC Central is currently only available to those physicians participating in the early pilot. This pilot initiative will expand in early 2007 to include a broader group of physicians. If you are interested in being considered for this Broad Pilot, please email us at PCCentralSupport@vch.ca. A member of the Project Team will contact you in December to advise you of the status of the Broad Pilot.
